The principle is simple: a volunteer wears the mask, which looks funny anyway, and someone else operates the mouth, speaking for the volunteer at the time. It works well if the performer puts on a comedy voice. If you are the performer and your lips move, it doesn’t really matter as everyone is watching the volunteer seemingly uttering the hilarious lines you are saying!
